It is with mixed feelings that effective August 1, 2025, we announce the retirement of Raymond Applebaum as Chief Executive Officer, Peel Senior Link. Over the past 26 years, Raymond has given so much of his life and himself by incorporating a unique leadership style and approach to making Peel Senior Link what it has become today. An organization that has made a tremendous impact on the lives of seniors and their families in the Region of Peel. Ray has worked tirelessly and passionately to advocate and raise the profile of the agency and seniors’ care in the Province of Ontario, and at a national level through numerous committees, and innovative projects and awards including:
Community Door, Creditvale Mills Wellness Hub, Integrated Seniors Team, Rogers ‘Aging in Peel’, Metamorphosis Network, Peel Council on Aging, Crossroads Village Café & Shop, Supports for Daily Living Hub & Spoke , Ontario Health Team’s governance & collaboration, Medication Management Program Leading Practice with Health Standards Organization, OCSA 25th Anniversary Leadership Award, LHIN Quality Award, Accreditation Canada – 3 consecutive exemplary standings, Canadian Healthcare Association Award for Distinguished Service, and 3M Health Care Quality Team award for the Supports for Daily Living model, to name a few.
Partnerships are extremely important to Ray; he considers them as extended family/team members. Since 1998, Ray has expanded service capacity from initially 100 clients and families in Brampton and Mississauga with 4 Peel Living buildings to over 330 spaces in 11 seniors’ buildings. Ray has expanded the staff from its initial 14 employees in 1998 to over 185 committed and talented staff. In addition, Ray’s strong partnership with the government and other funders enabled the organization to grow to over $10 million annually. Also, Ray introduced a highly successful Seniors Active Living Centre to address social isolation and loneliness with arts & crafts and social programs.
As Ray says, “During my 48-year career in health & human services I feel privileged that I have had the extraordinary experience of working at Peel Senior Link with an amazing team of dedicated and committed staff and Board volunteers and partners.”
As we celebrate and thank Ray for his incredible dedication, passion and accomplishments, we wish him good health and success in his retirement from PSL and new life journey ahead.
